Friday June 23 at 9:00 a.m. will be the ribbon cutting for the Hurricane Valley Rotary All-Abilities Playground at Dixie Springs Park!

The playground is more than 7,500 square feet and has more than 30 separate play stations.  It was designed for use for children with special needs, but kids of all ages are welcome.  Notable among the fun equipment are the Big Slide, Aeroglider, Double Decker Cone Spinner, Cozy Cocoons, Sleeping Bear Crawl Tube, a variety of swings and slides, and a wheel chair ramp to enable access to many of the playground features.  Thirteen shade sails give protection from the direct sun on the many hot days we have in Southern Utah.

Fundraising efforts for the All-Abilities Playground are ongoing.  Hurricane Rotary dedicated most of the proceeds from its 2022 and 2023 Easter Car Shows. The City of Hurricane provided $200,000 toward the project and will be responsible for maintenance of the playground going forward.  Other benefactors, including the general public, have supported the project financially.
